If you need a lawyer for a criminal case:
To apply for a Public Defender, you must go to the Magistrate Court of the county where you were accused or arrested and complete an application. There is a $50 charge for making application; you must have this before your application will be accepted. (This is the only payment required until the end of your case.) If you qualify for a Public Defender, the Magistrate Court will notify our office - but you must contact our office to schedule an appointment. Our phone numbers and addresses are below.
